Growing our own food and protecting our animals and natural resources remain essential for our national prosperity and future sustainability. Food production constitutes the fundamental backbone of our nation's sustenance. Global circumstances demonstrate the critical importance of domestic food production for every sovereign nation. Our current dependence on food imports presents considerable challenges to our national food security. The imperative to enhance domestic food production requires comprehensive participation across our society. 

Here in the Maldives, agriculture represents a cornerstone of our national identity. Our forebears demonstrated remarkable dedication in cultivating their lands to sustain their families and communities. They bestowed upon us this invaluable legacy of agricultural knowledge. Our present duty lies in revitalizing these traditional farming practices while incorporating modern methodologies. 

Our wildlife and natural ecosystem hold parallel significance. Each species - avian, marine, and terrestrial - contributes vitally to our environmental equilibrium. Their protection, along with their habitats, remains crucial for ensuring sustainable prosperity for future generations. 

A significant challenge emerges at the intersection of agriculture and wildlife conservation: the adverse impact of agricultural chemicals on our biodiversity. This necessitates the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices. Natural farming methodologies, combined with contemporary innovations, can yield abundant harvests while preserving our environmental integrity. 

My ministerial vision encompasses the proliferation of agriculture across our archipelago. This initiative will reduce import dependence while generating meaningful employment opportunities for our youth in the agricultural sector. Concurrent with agricultural development, wildlife conservation shall remain a ministerial priority to maintain ecological balance.
