11 May 2025

A permit to import beneficial organisms must be requested through the application form. The completed form may be submitted directly to the ministry service counter or sent via mail.

The application must be accompanied by comprehensive scientific information about the beneficial organism for which import permission is sought. This should include the organism’s classification, scientific and common names, place of origin, and global distribution, as well as research demonstrating its importance and effectiveness. Detailed biological information is required, including natural enemies, potential impacts on the receiving environment, specific host range, and possible risks to non-target species. Applicants must also provide information on phytosanitary standards to be observed prior to import, health and safety risks to persons handling or breeding the organism, and a management plan for any potential incidents. Procedures for transport, storage, disposal of containers, facility standards, methods of use, and the scientific and common names of the target pests to be controlled must also be clearly documented.
