Under the "Food Security Program" Ministry has sent plants to 4 islands in Shaviyani Atoll

To enhance food security in the Maldives, this ministry has sent plants to 4 islands in Shaviyani Atoll under the "Food Security Program".

The ministry has been receiving requests from island councils to provide plants to increase food security in the islands. The ministry's center in Hanimaadhoo has been supplying plants to these islands as needed. As such, a total of 1159 plants have been provided to 4 islands in Shaviyani Atoll this month.

Details of the 4 islands in Shaviyani Atoll that received plants under the "Food Security Program":

Sh. Funadhoo:

Banana - (8 for households, 57 for offices) Total 65

Guava - (9 for households, 107 for offices) Total 116

Moringa - (5 for households, 106 for offices) Total 111

Taro - (32 for households) Total 32

Lhaimagu:

Banana - (59 for households) Total 59

Guava - (52 for households) Total 52

Moringa - (51 for households) Total 51

Taro - (216 for households) Total 216

Narudhoo:

Banana - (7 for households, 53 for offices) Total 60

Guava - (12 for households, 59 for offices) Total 71

While plants are being provided to various islands in the Maldives under the Food Security Program, 50 banana plants were also donated to the Hanimaadhoo Council in June of this year.
