Discussions Held About Exploring Sustainable Pest Management Systems

Representatives from Agro Services and Pesterminators met with the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, Dr. Maryam Mariya, to discuss the introduction and implementation of biological control methods for pest management in the Maldives.

Held at the Ministry, the consultation marked a significant step toward promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible pest control practices. The discussions centered around integrating biological control principles as part of a broader strategy to address increasing threats to plant health across the country.

The Ministry highlighted growing concerns over the spread of plant diseases, which pose a serious risk to native plant species and agricultural productivity. In response to these challenges, the Ministry remains committed to identifying effective, eco-friendly solutions that ensure the long-term health of local ecosystems and support sustainable food production.

Dr. Mariya emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with industry experts and researchers, stating that informed guidance and scientific research are essential in tackling the current threats facing the nation’s flora.
